Doesnt work

Take a photo, upload, and laugh. It thinks the whole word is on character. Useless.

No longer works

Suffers from numerous errors and crashes. This was once cool but desperately needs an update.

Good idea but not update

As in the title I have said the idea is really good, but the design and size is for the iPhone 4/4s as much actual iPhone model. The need to update the design and size for the new generation of iPhones such as 5/5s/5c/6/6 Plus.

Useless

Took multiple attempts and still couldnt identify what is basically Helvetica on a sign. Some of the errors were simply unable to upload to server.

An exercise in futility.

Anyone rating this app over 1 star is likely a friend of the creator. Remember those old-school voice command systems? Let me refresh your memory... You: "tree" It: "three" No, I said tree. Pee? TREE green tree? T.R.E.E. pcp? The harder you try, the more it fails. This app might work if you can single out one character but realistically, its crop feature is so bad that its not likely going to happen. Youll spend less time and frustration manually surfing the font sites and guessing what your font is.

You win some, you lose some

This app is somehow simultaneously easy and hard to use. There can be a couple frustrating glitches when double-checking the characters identified (suddenly not being able to edit or scroll; or not being able to join an i or j to its dot), and you have to make sure to not try to identify too much text (error message). Otherwise, its easy to take a pic through the app and crop to what you want checked. Ive tried to identify two fonts so far; it got one right and couldnt figure out the other. Lets just say it doesnt hurt to try.

Waste of Time

I have tried using this app for simple sans-serif fonts on multiple tries and it always gives me a serif and block font. Every time. This app doesnt work at all.

This App Does Not Do What It Says It Does

I am a freelance graphic artist and constantly download new fonts to use on client work. Many times, clients will request a specific font based off of an image but do not know the name of the font. I often times have to search for fonts that are similar to the one the client is looking for, so this app seemed like a great solution. Only problem is, the app works nothing like advertised. It has the hardest time recognizing the simplest of fonts and if I can ever even get through the process of identifying letters in the picture with it recognizing letters and not the space between them, the recommended fonts arent even close to resembling the original font I was trying match. I have downloaded this app multiple times over the past few years to see if it has been improved or to see if it will just so happen to work for me this one time, but I always end up with the same disappointing results every time.

it doesnt work

It doesnt work. I tried a few times but it didnt suggest font or anything.

Good effort

Very cool concept and a good start. I hope theyll update it with improvements such as: • ability to rotate image (either before or after cropping) -- currently an image with wrong rotation fails completely. • ability to memorize all identifications so they can be accessed in the future (emailing the result is cool but shouldnt be the only option)

Outdated!!!

This app I super outdated. Doesnt fit my screen size, used old loading bars from iOS 5 or 6, and is never accurate. It gets slightly close sometimes, but I havent seen it get anything right.

Definitely Worth It

I was pretty angry that the app had bad reviews, after using it myself. This app is very useful, and has so many possibilities of use whether you just want to know the font or want to use it in a book of your own. Five stars for sure!

does not work

unfortunately this app does not work at all. I have tried multiple times and the app cannot recognize the simplest of fonts. would be great for a graphic designer but sadly, it is useless.

Effective but buggy

Interface is clunky (finger obscures content when dragging bound box around text), but this app nailed the first text sample I used it on. Then it crashed though, and now refuses to open (Im on iOS9). Oh well. Would be nice to store identified fonts to a list.

Search always returns fonts that look nothing...

...like what you upload. At all. For example, I took a clean picture of a font similar to Times Roman. I uploaded it per instructions and was treated to returned matches that looked like childrens handwriting, wingdings, and symbols and big blocky letters. None of the search returns look anything like my sample script. Nothing at all. I dont know what it was doing other than returning a random sampling of random fonts. There seem to be no algorithms running to match the sample font to anything other than the letter that was typed into the box. It doesnt match the "look" of the font, just the letter itself with a variety of fonts. I deleted the app after giving it a few tries and coming up with the same unusable returns every time. A font finder app is a great idea. If it worked, I would be willing to pay a buck or two for it. Im always on the look-out for fonts I can use on the web site I manage and publications I create. I hate scrolling endlessly through font sites.

Does What it Says. A Little Outdated

This app does what it says as long as you have a clear picture. The only downside is that it is a little outdated. It is still made for the screen of the iPhone 4 or 4s. Hopefully they will update this eventually. I assume the fonts are also somewhat out of date, but it helps a lot when you want to know what a font is! 4/5 stars

Buggy

Just started using it and already it keeps crashing. Have quit and restarted to no avail.

Great idea, app is on the right track!

Looking at a book from 1966 wondering what font am I looking at, imagined that this app exists and lo and behold it does! Great premise; app did a great job of identifying some relevant fonts. Keep up the good work!

Crashes on load

App will not load.

A decent app that needs an update!

The app itself is pretty straight forward. Follow the instructions and it works about half the time. This is still in my "toolbox" to help identify customer samples they want me to match. Again it only works about half the time but when it does then that saves me the time from having to do it manually. What desperately needs fixing is the GUI. The app core hasnt been updated in several iterations of iOS. Just a bit of work would make a great app again!
