Better than a web search
Assessment: It does a decent job— found one font dead on, and a font close to the second one I looked for, but not exactly the same.
The good: Definitely beats trying to find fonts with web searches.
The big problem:
When you click on any of the listed fonts the app has identified as a potential match, you get a message saying that “An unrecognized error has occurred,” following which the app either takes you to the start screen or crashes.
The improvable:
- Photos taken within the app to use to identify the photographed font are saved to your camera roll / photo stream.
- Can’t resize the box to select the letters to analyze once you’ve drawn it.
- After entering/changing the letters the app guesses for each letter image, the keyboard disappears, necessitating re-clicking in the next box down over and over.
